Editorial Policy
This page describes how content on KratomCanadaGuide is researched, checked and corrected. It is written to be specific enough that you can hold us to it.
Who writes this site
Articles here are written and maintained by Chad Samson, a single named writer rather than an anonymous team. We would rather publish one name you can assess than claim an editorial board we do not have. Chad maintains the vendor comparison data and reviews every guide before it is published.
Claims have to be checkable
Where we state something specific about a vendor — a price per gram, a dispatch cutoff, whether a certificate of analysis exists — we read it off the vendor's live site and record the date we did. Those dates are published on the reviews so you can judge how current a claim is.
We open documents rather than trusting what they are called. That distinction has changed our conclusions more than once: one vendor files a stock photograph of a technician under a lab-report filename, and another publishes a genuine certificate we initially missed because its page images are stock photos. A page titled "lab results" is not evidence of lab results.
Sourcing
Claims about Canadian law are cited to primary sources — Health Canada's own advisories and the text of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act — rather than to other kratom sites. Claims about alkaloids and strain effects are cited to peer-reviewed literature and linked so you can read the paper yourself. Where the research contradicts common marketing claims, we report the research.
What we will not publish
- Dosing guidance. Kratom is not authorised by Health Canada for human consumption, there is no established safe dose, and we are not qualified to set one.
- Medical claims. We do not say kratom treats, cures or prevents anything.
- First-hand testing claims. We assess what vendors publish. We do not claim to have tested products we have not tested.
- Unverifiable specifics. If we cannot check a claim, we say we could not check it rather than repeating the vendor's wording.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we correct it on the page and say what changed, rather than editing it away quietly. Our vendor reviews carry explicit retractions where an earlier version made a claim we could not substantiate, and scores have moved in both directions as a result — one vendor was revised upward when we found we had under-credited a certificate it genuinely publishes.
If you spot an inaccuracy, please contact us. A link to the source showing the correct information is the fastest route to a change.
Independence
Two vendors on this site are affiliate partners, and links to them are marked as sponsored. Scoring weights are published in full on the how we review page and are applied identically to partners and non-partners. No vendor can pay to change a score, appear in the comparison table, or have a finding removed.
